A Multiple Input Single Output MISO unit is a compact power controller unit that allows two or more power sources to be connected to inputs for possible gating to a single output. These units come in several models that differ in the way that power from the inputs is gated to the output.

MISO 13.5-12 is an ORing unit that provides one of two different sources at the inputs as a voltage at the output . The normal operation of this product is to allow the voltage connected to the Main Terminals to pass to the Output Terminals  and switch a source connected to the Secondary Terminals to the Output Terminals if the Main source falls below 12V. The Main source is restored to the Output when its voltage rises to 13.5V.

MISO 12-10 functions like the MISO 13.5-12 but has a 12V on / 10 V off source control voltage characteristic at the Main connection.

MISO 100MV is a power controller that executes a current sharing function when the voltage at the Main and Secondary inputs are the same, to within 100 mV of each other. When the voltages differ by more than 100 mV the highest voltage is gated to the Output and the lowest voltage is cut off from the Output. In this MISO model it does not matter which terminal the higher voltage is connected to, Main or Secondary.

MISO units can be daisy-chained.  Every stage in the source chain presents either the Main or the Secondary voltage source for possible gating to the output of the first stage. Sources have priority based on their position in the source chain with the sources nearest the first stage having the highest priority. Every power stage in the chain has both a Main and a Secondary connection. To learn more about daisy-chaining MISO units refer to Application Note 004.
